Desktop Linux不易走向商業機構？

有討論區，有網友問到如何可以說服公司放棄使用Windows，改用Linux，眾多網友表示在公司使用Desktop Linux存有風險，Openoffice.org內打開MS Office問題不少，所以並不推薦。

從這話題可以顯示得到，Desktop Linux要普及仍然需要一段時間。很多人埋怨MS壟斷市場，軟件價格較高，但MS「壟斷」得合理，MS軟件勝在親用戶。以前DOS時代，一般人操作電腦沒有現在的容易，以前要在WordStar打文章，遠不及現在使用MS Office那麼方便。基於此，導致Windows和MS Office支配市場，而且Windows擁有眾多軟件。

Desktop Linux和Openoffice.org不是差，只是仍然與Windows和MS Office還有距離，Linux不易使用，MS Office文件格式是閉源的，但MS Office被商業廣泛使用。Openoffice.org對MS Office兼容度其實有改善，只是不是太多「花巧」東西，Openoffice.org打開大部分MS Office 2003文件都不會「走樣」，但並不是完美的，所以在商業機構，如果有大量文件的傳輸，客戶端還是使用Windows比較適合。儘管不需要大量文件的傳輸，一般用戶使用Linux的挫折感肯定較使用Windows為強，除非是電腦高手，雖然Desktop Linux日漸強大，但不少操作仍然基於命令行。

我在內地接觸的不少公司，沒有一間以Desktop Linux取代Windows，對於這些公司而言，寧願使用盜版Windows也不會改用免費的Linux。

只能講句，有D software係俾錢既先好用，如Visual Paradigm/ Visio呢類，我用過Dia同OpenOffice.org Draw，係可以畫到DFD，但係用得好唔舒服。

同埋有時D人用慣左一樣野，你話要轉另一種，我夠膽講10個有9個人會對呢個Alternative option有好高既要求/ 期望。齋Free齋Open source對一般人黎講並唔夠。

如果你要拿 ISO 認證, 佢既要求就係 一定要有 m$ windows, m$ office 既 PC 先得, 咁你會裝 linux 嗎 ?

Most of the IT Professionals in Hong Kong or in China know Windows system only.  They do not know Unix like products.  They will not promote any products other than Windows.  If they promote Unix like products, they will lost their jobs.  They all thinking that if there is a mistake (may be making by them), the problem is on the vendors and not on them - bull shit at all.

Why I do say that?  For example, many websites making by IT Professionals in Hong Kong or China are designed for IE only.  Opera, Firefox and etc cannot not browse them which including some bankers in Hong Kong.

Open Document Format is launched and it is the standard.  Microsoft Office is implemented by means of plugins.  OpenOffice.org's documents are in Open Document Format.  Open Document Format is very common in Europe and  in Third Worlds.

Training for users is a must when the company is changing hardwares or softwares.  Why not provides training for users in using Unix like products?  The training cost is not high indeed as the Unix like systems are using mouse and keyboard only for desktop usage.

Unix like system, such as Linux is very easy to use and it is stable.  There are many Open Source softwares in the world.  They are very useful and creative.  You can get them free of charge, most of them.

I do say that Unix like system, such as Linux is not common is due to the IT Professionals, especially in Hong Kong and China, my opinion.

要將Linux代替Windows不是完全沒有可能，除了解決用戶使用習慣問題和軟件兼容問題，還可能得要把眾多文件格式轉換，這方面很花時間。

公司與公司之間以 Word 或 Excel 文件交流.
呢樣野由於已存在好耐, 好難改變.
就係咁, d人就順理成章要用 Windows.

另一樣野, 就好似 Gundamdriver 兄咁講, 始終賺錢o既軟件係會制作得嚴緊d 好用d.

可以睇下 MacOS 亦係以 Linux 為基礎. 但畫面設計得好 user-friendly, 我自己就覺得佢好用過 Windows. 就係因為佢係賺錢, 先畀咁多心機去設計.

Mac OS X is based on FreeBSD instead of Linux.

There are many Open Source softwares (including pay and free) for Linux and Unix like operating system in the world.

Windows system can occupied the IT field because Windows system in the market earlier than other operating system (for PC only).  Linux exists in the world since 1992.  Linux is a child in the PC world compares with Microsoft.

OpenOffice.org is a standard in the world now as it supports Open Document Format.  Microsoft Office implemented the standard by means of plugin.  The world is changing now.  Several years later, Open Document Format will be widely used including Microsoft products.

Standard is the king.  It allows every one in the world touch the IT.  Linux provides a platform or chance for every one (including poor countries) to touch IT.

Many open source vendors/developers earn a lot of money by their open source products.  Open source products do not mean that it is free of charge, be remembered.  Open source products are useful and creative.
