lets make it this way, the ONLY model thats out in the market that takes a full voltage i7 CPU with good cooling and no dedicated GPU is the W550EU, and its not even available in HK, if you get through CLEVO(藍天) on taobao or ebay your best bet will be the W350ET/W350ST, that thing can take up to a 3840qm/4900mq without thermal throttling

you can also get the lenovo i7 machines for cheap, but normally when the CPU is under long stress it will throttle down due to temperature issue and it comes preconfigured with the 3630qm/4700mq, and it comes with a dedicated graphics card as well

lets think of the GPU as an really good deal, a deal that you cannot refuse when you look for an i7 machine, and since it is a real good deal the manufacturer simply produce i7 machines that comes with the GPU no matter how much you don't want it, because its a very very cheap deal

I think now I make my mind clear that
a individual GPU doesnt reallly make the price much higher
but sth like a "attachment" with a low addition below $500  for an i7-model


orginally I think it may be a waste when I turn it off
for supressing the heat and battery consume

but in this case, I think it's not a very MUST to reject a GPU

in addition, if you look for i7 laptops with nVIDIA graphic cards, they usually supports the Optimus technology, which can save resources by intelligently switching between the embedded gpu and nVIDIA's. You can even specify which one to use for each program.
