得十個不足的email users,單單以processing power來講,黃金最平的Celeron D已經有餘. 你砌機的考慮是:1. email server program的setup; 2. 部機耐用與否.

如果budget足夠,直接買一部email server.  但如果budget只容許你用Linux,買塊穩定的底板,火牛和HDD. 除非你公司servers全部入rack,1u server是不需要的.

廠機server當然是好啦. 但都要睇返實際使用情況同budget的. 若果公司mail user 唔多, 砌機基本上可以足夠. 我公司果3,4十人都是用部e5300 + g31 +2g ddr2 + lsi raid + 500g x2 就完成啦. 其實cpu都唔洗咁快, 主要運算唔在於cpu身上,最重要是 ram, i/o 同hdd 的空間.
你2g ram來計, 夠的啦. 唔夠再加, 呢個問題不大. i/o 果方面, 睇你諗住點玩啦. 若果行raid的話, onboard sw raid唔是唔得, 但始終稳定性跟i/o性能都唔及一張 hw raid 卡. 呢個要睇你budget 啦.
至於空間. hdd size你要諗一諗, 因為一用可能幾年的啦. 除非當中有hw死. 所以要估計返有幾多人用email, 每個user 有無quota俾佢地, quota 幾大, 來計返個數. 不過你可以先用住320g 都ok, 唔夠用再買hdd mount 入來者.

同意樓上的提議，我幾個人．．．用 Google Apps 啦，一個人都係幾百蚊一年，唔使額外買 AS/AV license，25gb storage．．．最重要係唔使 maintenance 同 backup.....

對，幾個人甚至用domain hosting + email 套餐便可以。數十美元一年。
