    Hi Roz,

Q1 I had already design the 5 stepper in the cartridge but which is very big and heavy,  I would like to know about your BOWDEN is it enough push power in it.?  did you try to mix all the three color in your bowden then add another single stepper as the second push power in your cartridge,  

Q2 did anyone try to use the small stepper as your extruder stepper?

because in my designing multi color extruder, i had already finish the program which is using convert the RGB color to CMYK + White color then using the arduino to control the filament volume after that use the TCS230 http://www.dx.com/p/tcs230-color ... -for-arduino-148739 to check final filament color.
but now the my big problem is as above the question.  my designed cartridge is around 80mm x 100mm.  so that i think your solution can solve the problem but also i thinking it doesn't has enough power to push the filament.

i am very sorry about my english bad. but i really want to ask this question?

Q1+Q2(partly) : We can have some technical exchange personalty
Q2 (motor part) : what you need to do is -- adjust the motor resistor , a correct value of the reference resistant will make a correct current output to drive the motor

    Re 2 something i am designing as I am thing now is using smaller stepper so that can save more space but before I work on it I need to confirm can this type of stepper handle the job or not

    i am not thinking use 4988 or 8825..
    is using http://arduino-info.wikispaces.com/SmallSteppers if this enough to handle filament extruder then that save me a lot of time in development and save more space.
    because the designed flow is using application server -> raspberry pi -> L6470, -> one arduino control the heat bed balancing and 5 temperature control, -> one arduino control the multi color filament extruder., -> arduino for the safety controller. -> arduino all axis distance controller.

so that base on above design, i guess all the 3d printer design base on this platform will has only 1 ~ 5% object different.  so that is my project target.

Above idea i don't worry to open because i already own some patent and something need has the true development knowledge and hardware development knowledge.
