But in my experience, they may not call if it is general charge like stopping/parking at restricted areas.

For other violations which are more dangerous like speeding or not stopping at red lights etc. they may call to data center to check the driver's record. (e.g. the driver could be suspect of other offences or named in the 'wanted' list of the police)

    My experience may be outdated, no any offence including illegal parking for at least 7 years.  Reported to police once for being hit in the period, that time they checked everything including alcohol test.

唔會無牌駕駛囉, 只係未能出示有效駕駛執照

其實樓主問題的答案很簡單，唔可以。否則就毋須有相關罰則。如在路上被發現未能出示有效駕駛執照，有關駕駛者亦應即時停止駕駛，直至能提供有效駕駛執照。

That's why I said if the offence is related to road safety or suspected criminal acts, they would check but for general ones they may just give the ticket and end the case.
