正如樓上所講, UI都係一個要考慮既因數, 所以唔可以向下兼容唔緊要, 最重要係比左錢既有得平價upgrade. 至於個mon幾多色, 對我黎講我又唔覺得好重要, 始終我覺得聽歌睇片好晒電, 如果一直都改善唔到耗電量高既問題, 我零願攞多部機, 因為暫時手中呢部都係"電話"

不過development team既問題我就唔會咁睇, MS都有佢自己既模式:
DOS>fine tune>win3.1>推倒重來>win95
win95>fine tune>win 98>推倒重來>win2k
win2k>fine tune>winxp>推倒重來>vista/win7
個比喻未必100%岩晒啦, 但係都差唔多

WebOS failed because there is absolutely nothing to back the ecosystem up. The ease of development is overhyped and is crippled by the slow release of SDKs. And it is the only current smartphone OS that cannot reach global markets worldwide - WebOS is currently used only on devices not available internationally.

Windows Phone 7, on the other hand, have Windows Live and Xbox Live services backing it up, and Silverlight and .NET developers already know how to develop applications for the OS with little modifications.

Win2k 應該源自WinNT, 所以個path應該有兩個,
DOS->Win31->Win95/98/ME
WinNT->Win2K->XP->Vista->Win7

Backward compatibility 一路都有, 就算Win7都可run WinXP program, 甚至某程度的DOS program.
總之希望M$今次做返場好戲, 攪得WP7好好地, 咁大家可以多一個選擇

重點問題是，就要看新系統個kernel是不是純.Net化……
因為甚至在XBOX360，個kernel都還有WinAPI的subset……(.Net的底層還是需要Win32支撐)
理論上而言，只要能補齊完整的Win32 subsystem，Backward compatibility是可以達到的。

這點也是未來Desktop system所面對的挑戰。

Sometimes for a OS 推倒重來 is a good decision,
there is no more limit to design a new OS.

A more suitable words for "推倒重來" is "Redefine".
