It's a none issue confirmed by Koolance and Oliver Laing himself.  The inverted orientation is not recommended by Laing to avoid issues with air trapping inside the pump, which is not an issue with this res, because it bleeds easily, especially with the pump running at low speed during the process.   Even Martin (xtremesystems forum handle: Martinm210) of http://martinsliquidlab.org/ said that he liked V2 much better.

Koolance has many products with the pump upside down, including the RP-401x2 for dual DDC's, which is also against Laing's literature for the  DDC pumps, but there have been no premature pump failures.

Can you guys identify the pump controller in the pics?

Looks like a CTR-SPD24X2 (24V), or is it CTR-SPD12X2 (12V)?

Those pumps in the pics are D5 Vario or PMP 450, which don't benefit from 24V.
