If you capture in raw avi the hard disk will not be fast enough for 720p. You'll need a SSD or RAID setup for this!
If you capture and real time encode such as mpeg1, you will need a very fast CPU. But actually your iMac is fast enough for that.
Im also recording my gameplay a lot (PC and Xbox)
My setup is HTPC/Xbox --> hdmi --> Blackmagic Intensity --> PC -->
1) RAW avi 720/60p or 1080/50i for short recording on intel SSD,
2) Mpeg1 for long recording on a normal ESATA harddisk,
3) Live board cast on justin TV plus recorded FLV on normal harddisk. |
