Get something reliable... not some $200 POS

eg. used refurb MTV-7000D, rechecked, with new AC adapter (but 3rd party remote), only $900 at New Capital (2/F)
Plus 6-month motherboard warranty (shop warranty)

If the old LCD TV has S-Video and Component inputs then you can connect the MTV with both for better quality
However, occasional moiré may occur on some TVs

But not all older LED TVs have HDMI

You haven't seen it all...
Those older ones with CCFL backlighting provably have no HDMI
LED backlighting is a relatively newer technology

And for the record, my old Sharp Aquos LCD TV (circa 2004-05) has no HDMI either
