Not sure if it helps, put it on top of a notebook cooling stand (with fan). "散熱" was an issue to many magic tv models.  

I've been using 3800D for more than 5 years (internal 1TB and external 2TB), running at 24/7 with a notebook cooling stand (fan). It hangs during summer season before the use of an external cooling fan.

Before buying a notebook cooling stand, you may test the effect using a 共田風扇 running at 24/7 (or nearly). If there is no more hangup, thermal was the cause of the problem.
