AMD is protected by the Anti-trust law from being 'killed' by Intel. For some reason, this law would not be applicable to this 'NV vs ATi' case (may be due to the presence of Intel in this market). Therefore, if NV is killed, AMD will dominate by natural monopoly; and this is not against the anti-trust law.

That market is too small (even the profit per card is big). Besides, if NVs GPU is inferior, so will their professional cards.

It's  not one of those usual setbacks that can be picked up by a better next generation. From the experience of GT200, Fermi; NV has exposed it's core weakness to the whole world: they can't design anything except huge MIMD die. The disaster of Fermi will just keep coming back, even in a more severe way in the eras of 28nm or less.
