My Canon TS5170 has been running at 24/7 for 6 years . It uses ink cartridges (one black and one color) with a built-in print head. We will get a new print head when replacing the ink.
As we know that if ink cartridges sit idle in the machine for an extended period, they will eventually dry out and become unusable. The print head nozzles would also be clogged. As an infrequent user, I would only print a few copies per month and the ink cartridges could last for 2-3 years before drying out.
It seems this kind of setup (running at 24/7 / using ink cartridges with built-in print head / print something per month) is suitable for low print volume/infrequent users.
