It really depends on the seller. I bought 2 refurbished Thinkpad L440 with 4gb ram and 128gb SSD, both came with new batteries, at $13xx and free shipping to HK last year
外國d refurbished/recertified 唔係Apple果隻level

Though cheaper, but it looks like a Grade C item according to its descriptions (and photos) - "This item shows a worn case, heavy scratching/scuffing as this is a used item. The noted defects are ...."

A-Grade
Units that are in “Like New” condition. Minimal to no scuffs to the body of the unit. No scratches, dents, or other cosmetic damage to the item.
B-Grade
Units that may have dents, chips, or scuffs on the body. The keyboard may be shiny or worn down and hair line scratches or scuffs may be on the screen.
C-Grade
Units that may have dents, cracks, chips, or scuffs on the body. The keyboard may be shiny or worn down and there may be scratches or dark spots on the LCD screen.
I bought 2 grade B laptops last year. There were a few scratches on the exterior, but their interior, i.e. keyboard (might be replaced with new ones) and screen were like new. Overall, I would say they were 90% new. Also, both came with 3-month warranty.
There are different sellers in Newegg. If you are buying, check the seller's rating and reviews by buyers.
