I know that Windows Mobile 6.5 will release soon this month. I want to know if HTC will release the Diamond2 with WM 6.5 later this month.
The first batch with the outdated WM 6.1 and the second batch with WM6.5?
Any thoughts in this?

But there is no official info or confirmation on this.

It would be nice if there was a press release info on this. Hong kong Market normally gets things late so I also wouldn't be surprised if an update to WM6.5 (if available) may only release in late June or early July 2009. By then better and faster phones with WM 6.5 will be available and possible even the release of new iPhone 3G and Palm Pre.
I can understand why Diamond2 is released now with the outdate WM6.1. There are alot of guys who are just itching to buy something new so this helps HTC make some quick money while they can. When WM 6.5 releases many guys will buy the Diamond2 just to try out WM 6.5 and the new interface.
However, it will be sad if those who bought the Diamond2 with the outdate WM 6.1 will have to wait till June or July just to get an update to WM 6.5.

I don't want a parallel import version because I won't be able to upgrade to WM 6.5. Well not officially. May be with some hacked roms only.
One2Free sales told me that it may be possible that Diamond2 English version will be with WM6.5 only. The Chinese version they have now is using the outdated WM6.1.

I am only getting the Diamond2 only if it will have and upgarde for WM 6.5 or better yet if it is released with WM 6.5 out of the box.
Diamond2 is about the same as the Touch HD which I had tried earlier so honestly it is not that big of a deal. Touch HD was horrible when playing some games. It was very slow even when watching some movies it was laggy. May be Diamond2 may be slightly faster due to the slightly smaller screen size. It would have been better if it was released with a faster CPU.

Just confirmed with HTC. Diamond2 English version will hit the store shelves this weekend or early next week.
It is cutting close the the official WM6.5 release date.
So is the English version releasing with WM 6.5?
WM 6.5 release date = 11th May 2009
Question really is if the Chinese Version WM 6.5 releasing the same time or a few weeks later?

we have a HD at work and it plays any movies we throw at it just fine

Actually it was not always slow. The games were usually slow. Try out the Java games. It was just horrible.
I noticed some sites were also discussing about it at that time.

Got news today that HTC Diamond 2 English version is still not hit the stores yet. They are in stock at HTC but not yet officially released yet. I wonder what is making them not release the English version now. Only Chinese version first?
Strange move. Is it something to do with WM 6.5 release?
