據看過即將面市的六月號《GameInformer》雜誌的GameSpot編輯稱,《現代戰爭2》的年代背景設定在原作劇情塵埃落定數年後。在不久的將來,俄羅斯內部政局不穩(當然是虛構的)再次對世界和平構成了威脅——就像三月發佈的莫名預告片所暗示的那樣,一個恐怖組織初露端倪。
CoD4中的一位英雄人物,綽號“Soap”的MacTavish軍士在新作中已被提升為上尉,繼續為英國特別空勤團(SAS)效力,其合作單位是美海軍海豹突擊隊(SEALs)。MacTavish將帶領玩家經歷一系列奔襲行動,包括在俄羅斯茫茫雪原上滲透俄軍基地。
在遊戲設計上,《現代戰爭2》將致力於解決敵軍無限重生的頑疾——該系列最令人詬病之處;但指望單機劇情能在原作6-10小時的基礎上有所拓展的玩 家可能會有些失望,“進一步延伸劇情不像是個正確的選擇”,Infinity Ward總裁兼首席運營官Jason West對《GameInformer》雜誌表示說。
另有人指,儘管如此,《現代戰爭2》的單機劇情仍比《CoD4》要長(待證實);雖仍沿用線性關卡設計,但遊戲環境更為開放;遊戲幀率可保持在每秒60幀的水準上,且畫面細節更豐富(對主機而言;PC版的畫面到頂也就是那樣)。
《現代戰爭2》將具備引以為傲的“特種部隊”新模式,類似於原作中解開的“Mile High Club”突襲機艙救出人質的挑戰關卡;但期盼度很高的合作通關模式也許這次依然欠奉,“我們之前按自己的喜好做了一大堆合作通關的內容,可惜與劇情沒法 契合”,Jason West解釋說。

I'll be getting both though.   OFP:DR is delayed till Fall 2009.  ArmAII will be out next month.   But for me, OFP will be snacks, while ArmA 2 will be the entree.   BTW, why would you expect OPF:DR more?  I mean Codemasters has no track record in FPS development.  And there aren't pilotable fixed-wing aircrafts in DR, but ArmA 2 have them.  You know how much I love flying, lol...

Oh, have you watched the TrackIR 5 premiere video with ArmA 2 on youtube?  It's amazing.   I bought TrackIR 5 last week, and can't wait to use it on ArmA 2.  Anyway, watch it if you haven't:

Sorry for doubting you,  but I seriously don't know what you're talking about.  I've been following both ArmA 2 and OFP very closely in the past 12 months, and I've been active on both official forums.  Based on what I see, (BTW, Arma 2 so far has a lot more information out there out there than OFP does) all of the information, screenshots, in-game videos (tons of them) is suggesting that Arma 2 will be a much better military sim than OFP, much better weapon/vehicle simulation, realistic bulletics, micro-AI.  Codemasters claims that OFP will have better AI, but so far they have not released any concrete proof that it does.

Okay, for a simple example, you know what is holographic, and how does Eotech Works. Then check the video in real world and compare to OFP:DR, ARMA (Mod) and ARMR II.
also the ACOG...etc...

1. On Physic, base on a DiRT engine, i don't think the improved "eGO" engine will worse than orginal DiRT.
2. In AI, the video i can say for Arma II, a delay Robot(not a human), rely on heavily script to improve, however OFP:DR AI is
AI's ability to react accordingly to different engagementsituations. However, a strategically successful approach will alwayswin the day.


The Dev team said that from the first day, it is react like a human.

Like I said, the OFP:DR devs said that but so far I have not seen any proof.  It's all just talk.  As for the ArmA 2 robot AI you mentioned, you do know that video is not based on the final build right?  If you believe what CM says about their AI, why can't you do the same for BIS on their Micro-AI?

Not need to impress, just it's not working, especially if u tried the real thing, will know how it useful in real life.
For a aimpoint, how come a 2MOA dot can such large.
That is Weapon Simulation, and ARMA II failure to did it again.

For a Aimpoint, in game is COMP-M2, it's MOA is 2, 2MOA.
For a Eotech, outer circle 65MOA with 1 MOA dot.

So you're complaining about the dot being too large in ArmA2?  And you do that base on what?  A video, screenshot?  And because of that you think OFP has better weapon sim?  I don't know about OFP, but in ArmA 2 every moving part of  a weapon is simulated.

BTW, have you seen the first EGO gameplay video CM released 2 months ago?  Remeber the way the gun attached to the viewpiont/hud, turning at the same speed as you turn your head, that is very unrealistic.  Also, the AI in that video is terrible.

If u say the dot didn't change, that is correct because the dot always in center.
If u talking the optic and the head moving at same speed, that is correct, because in real case, even not in aiming position, line of sight always sync on weapon, at least i did, the U.S Army did.

No, I'm talking about the crosshair or hud of the gun being attached to your head always, meaning it turns with your head even when you're not holding the gun in aming position, as if you always turns your full body with the gun pointing at the middle, but in fact you should be only turning your head.  Both OPF1 and ArmA have done that right.  

And to be honest, there shouldn't even be a hud or crosshair in a simulation game like this.  ArmA, Arma2, or OFP 1 don't have them.

As for your complaint of weapon sim, I think you're just neatpicking.  Remeber you're staring at pixels on a computer display, if they made the Eotech dot any smaller, it could become a problem, or if it's really a mistake, the devs will fix it, as it's not hard to shrink the dot.

As everyone know, HUD and crosshair can switchoff many game.

It's teach by the Army manual on how to use a M-16 - Basic.
I know what that is u talking now, but it's quite useless if u a sharpshooter, and a right solider, it only happen on machine gun supporter.
And while that movement the weapon sight should not be static, but Arma/ Arma II did static...

Yeah, but OFPDR don't support TrackIR.  Anyways, only arcade shooters would have the gun permanently fixed at one position when you run and turn, in more realistic shooters, there should be a delay, unless you're aiming down sight.

No, they don't support TrackIR because they want all versions to be the same.   They don't want the PC version to be different.

And there's a difference between can do it and would do it, trained or not.

BTW, I'm going to bring up the MOA issue at the BIS forums.  Mind if I use your images?

Just need to get it right, the 2 MOA dot in ArmA2 looks like a 4 MOA dot, is that what you were saying?

ArmA 2 consoles are not confirmed, only planned for 360, but don't know when it will come out.

"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of my favorite shooters, but its single-player campaign did have a few issues, most notable among them being the respawning enemies that would only cease after players crossed an invisible line. I've never understood why this has ever been considered a good design choice, but it seems that, fortunately, Infinity Ward has finally got the message.

"We are aware of it and we're actively trying to eliminate it," states Infinity Ward president and CCO Jason West. "I think we agree that it's not very good."

West's confession comes courtesy of the latest Game Informer, where Modern Warfare 2 had a big intel blowout. Other tidbits of info include the fact that players will be taking orders from Captain "Soap" MacTavish, the silent player character from the original Modern Warfare, while tracking down a Russian madman known as Makarov.

Infinity Ward is still keeping a lid on multiplayer details, although we do know that a co-op mode, Special Forces, will be available, and that the developer is looking at ways to make notable online players "famous" for their in-game accomplishments. Sounds interesting, but right now we have no idea what they mean.

Still, great news on that respawning stuff. Now, if only we can just stop the AI from grenade-spamming all the time."

The respawning in CoD4 is silly in that you can just rush forward and people on your side will kill most enemies for you.

Sometimes, you don't even have to kill, just keep dodging and run cross the line, and the spawn stops.
