[操作疑難] Mac Book Air 11" (2010 later) update OS

I have a Mac Book Air 11" (2010 later) with  64GB HDD but I lost the installation USB stick bundled.
How can I reinstall the OS?

If I need to buy a new one from Apple Store, I want to upgrade to latest version.
From wiki, I know that my AIR supports "High Sierra" however, some friends told me the process was complicated, requiring several upgrade.

What are your recommendations for the OS upgrade on my AIR under such hardware configuration?

Thank you

You don't need to buy any operating system. They are all available to be downloaded from the App Store. Just install from there and your data shall all be retained during the upgrade process.

I believe High Sierra is the latest you can upgrade to. I have not use a 2010 Mac Book Air before, so I can tell if the newer MacOS would slow down your Air or not. But I guess 64GB is on the short side anyway, I don't expect you have been using it intensively. Keeping it on what ever MacOS version you are currently running may not be a bad idea, as you won't benefit from new OS.
